Hi there,

In San Francisco and luckily have sonic fiber. I’m buying a bunch of new ubiquiti gear, starting with a UDM-Pro, and 16 port poe switch, and then 3 AP’s.

Any troubles plugging in the UDMP directly to the sonic ONT?

I know for people using AT&T fiber, they have to put their equipment behind the supplied att modem which Authenticates, but seems I can plugin directly to sonic’s ont?

Thanks for help

No problems at all.

Hello,

Sonic Fiber does not use and PPPoE protocols like AT&T services so you can plug your devices directly into the ONT. The ONT can only hold a maximum of 8 devices which is why we suggest plugging an RG/router into the ONT so it can provide the rest of your devices with local IP addresses and not hit the maximum.

If you have any trouble it may be caused by hitting the maximum of 8 IP/mac addresses stored on the ONT. If this happens you will want to contact support and we can clear out the mac table to restore services.

Kind regards,
Sonic

Yes, I do exactly that, except that I have a ubiquitI USG, bought before the UDM was available. No issues at all - just plugged it in, and told the tech to keep the router that he Had brought for me.
