My father owns a couple of duplexes in the Inner Sunset in SF. As tenants change, the new tenants invariably get internet installed, which is fine, but more times than not, the installation tech drills a new hole into the side of the properties. One of the properties actually had 4 holes drilled. With Sonic now being so popular (which is awesome I feel), I'd like to know if anyone has a good suggestion for me on how to prep a rental property for Sonic. Does anyone have ideas on how to reduce or eliminate the need to drill new holes all the time for MPOE when a new tenant gets internet installed? I'm willing to help my dad install conduit for the installation techs if needed.
Hello,
You would want to have one hole drilled in the exterior of the home leading to a location where you would like the ONT to be installed. Once the ONT is installed, we leave it on site even if the customer moves out and cancels. This allows the new tenants to sign up for our service, without having to get it reinstalled. Other than that, having Cat5e internal wiring for all of the jacks would be ideal.
