you might consider a portable power center (an inverter+batteries) vs a ups. ups's are great for gapless transitons from wall current to battery, but the ones you can find on the shelves at OfficeMax usually have a run time of 30-60 min with a moderate load (eg your modem or ONT and router).

for an alternative, consider portable power centers from companies like Goal Zero and Ego. These run from 150W up to 2kW sustained output at prices of ~$300 for a setup that will deliver 250Wh of power (enough to keep your phone and router going for 5+ hours) to 1kWh-3kWh setups in the $1000 and up range that will run all that, and your TV, and your fridge for the same amount of time, or just your networking gear for 20-30 hours of of continuous operation.

Home Depot is an Ego dealer. REI is a Goal Zero dealer.

Bonus, if you use Ego yard tools, the batteries are compatible with their inverters.

Thanks. Really I'm looking for something more in the < $100 range. My ONT is in the crawlspace, while my wifi router is in the house (on a UPS).

Those other items look intriguing for my fridge, etc. but not quite what I need right now.

I connected an iLEPO ECO PLUS 412P UPS to my ONT fiber connection under the house. It supports 12V and has an 8800mAH worth of battery storage. It works so far in my tests. Cost < $40 on Amazon.

I would get one of those Belkin BU3DC001 backup UPSes that AT&T used to provide to DSL subscribers w/ VoIP on eBay and purchase a new battery. They work great with my Sonic FX subscription ONT. The Lucent/Nokia ONT is actually inferior to the ONT Sonic uses because the former is rated at 8W while Sonic's Adtran is 4W. You get double the runtime if you have the Adtran.

If you worry about your phone using too much power (and most don't use much), get a non-wireless phone to plug into the sonic ONT during the power outage.

Well, sort of. Sonic doesn't sell the ONT UPS to customers any more (as mentioned earlier in this thread), and the PS18L appears to have been discontinued. There are some PS18Ls available used on eBay but they are expensive and I chose to go with a newer UPS.
