gigabit fiber drop in South Berkeley

I set up an installation for what is now about 2 weeks out, almost middle October. They said they'd put in the drop beforehand. No appointment necessary or possible for the drop, but I think they said they'd knock on my door when they did it. They did my drop, I noticed it 3 days ago. Never heard a knock or whatever, I may have been away from the house.

Now, I talked to them on the phone a couple weeks ago (before the drop) and said the drop should surely be on the east side of the house. The west side is problematical due to proximity of my router being real far away on the east side, upstairs and that there's a very serious issue with my neighbor's trees on the west side -- the trees are thick and actually rub on my house on the west side, where they put the drop ... not good! The telephone lines (used for Sonic DSL and phone now, which AT&T installed some years ago are impacted by those trees, worse and worse. Having a fiber drop in there seems very unwise. The guy on the phone had said they'd do it like they do it, it could be changed if warranted.

Where they put the drop 3 days ago or so seems the worst possible place. How they're going to go to where my router is I don't know, it seems ridiculous. The guy on the phone a couple weeks ago said if there was an issue with the drop on installation day they'd deal with it, even call in a drop truck and redo it on that day. I figure I should be skeptical that they'd do that.

Should I call Sonic before the installation and ask for a re-drop on the east side? As it is they'll either have to swing the drop around the front of the house (seems ridiculous) or all the way around the back, then forward again to get to the upstairs east room where the router is, and that would have to negotiate the trees! Besides the tree interference if they go around the back it's very unlikely that the coiled fiber at the drop is long enough to get anywhere near where my router is.

We have reviewed this request and checked the address and current drop location. Our dispatch team has informed us that they can move the drop on the day of the installation and it will be easy to relocate. No need to call us before the install about this issue. Please make sure to be on site during your installation to forward the request to the installers.
