Looks like my neighborhood, Miraloma, is finally getting service right now... lots of streets here are seeing HP and Solcom trucks for anchor and fiber installs, either by sight or via permit searches, including Teresita Boulevard. Yet we are only one street away from Teresita on Marietta and the customer care center says Sonic has "no plans" to service this neighborhood "any time in the near future." People in the area report signing up for Sonic gigabit, and walking around the neighborhood there are obvious new fiber installs with amplifiers, aerial optical nodes, taps and cabinets, not to mention the cables, in the vicinity of these houses. But we can't seem to get a straight answer out of customer service. Will Sonic be able to service houses on blocks adjacent to Teresita some time in 2018?

Hi, I'm on the 500 block of Castro street in San Francisco and wondering if there are plans to run fiber up Castro toward Market st. I see that if I type my address at on the 600 block of Castro, fiber is available.

Ok am I the only person who finds this page useless? Every time I've gone there to see about gigabit availability, it says "Sonic is available!" and offers my the 50Mbps plan which is incredibly misleading (because every gigabit page directs me here) and nowhere on the page does it actually give an estimate or information on when fiber will be available.

It's terribly frustrating. I've been a very satisfied DSL customer for a few years, but I keep seeing on NextDoor that people within a mile or so have gigabit and I can't get an answer from Sonic if, or even when, we'll get it in our neighborhood. Why is that so hard to answer. They must have a plan for the roll-out, are they trying to hide something? Are they not planning to cover the City, what gives?

There are two answers to this:

The first is, we don't know where we can reach until it's completely engineered. On a per-block and even per-home basis, due to utility pole loading and underground utility issues, we may be unable to build. This results in uneven availability, so we can't speculate with any accuracy about when or if a specific premise can be served.

The other answer is, we don't talk about where we're building until all of that is complete and we've started construction and can take a service order from specific premises, on the day coverage is announced. If we say instead six months or a year prior, "We are building out fiber in Berkeley", our competitors will use that information against us, locking customers into long-term contracts. That's no good for us or the consumers.

Reaching out to see if Euclid ave. & Arguello in inner Richmond will get fiber hopefully soon. Based on the planned map, my apt. building is a block away from a fiber line. I’m really keen on not re-upping with comcast, so any info will be greatly appreciated!

Are your utilities to the building delivered aerial (a visible wire from a pole), or underground (via a conduit and vaults)? If the latter, SF does not currently allow new trenchless underground utility delivery, so we would be unable to reach you until those rules change. FYI.
