hmm, i got an email flyer rather than physical...
specifically:
CONGRATULATIONS!
Sonic is bringing Gigabit Fiber Internet + Home Phone to your neighborhood! Since you're already a Sonic customer, you'll be first in line when it's time to upgrade. Gigabit Fiber is up to 20x faster and the same price (or cheaper!) than your current Sonic service. We'll contact you as soon as you can upgrade -- don't worry, we know where to find you.

Just checked the availability thing but it just showed the current bonded AT&T broadband stuff.

So now i'm not sure what to believe

although for reference i can get comcast cable internet off the poles outside so presumably the poles are good?

Sonic Fiber Construction: April Update

CONGRATULATIONS ON PRE-ORDERING SONIC GIGABIT FIBER INTERNET!
Below, learn a bit more about what's encompassed in each "phase" of building a fiber network.
...
Your area is currently in Engineering. Engineering timeframes vary, but no matter the timeframe, we can't wait to deliver you fast affordable internet connectivity you deserve. At this stage, our internal Geographical Information Systems team (GIS) and Plant Teams develop the network path in your area that connects to your home.

also, just checked the sonic availability finder, and it shows my address as gigabit pre-order, woo

please don't let all the poles on sutter street be overloaded :(

Can I Sonic fibre on my street. I live on Church St by 20th (94114) San Francisco

Last I looked from a map provided by Dane, all the poles on Church are overloaded so we, as I also live on Church, will not be seeing Fiber anytime soon. If it wasn't so disruptive I would knock my pole down to force a replacement. oops did I just my outloud voice?

"I looked from a map provided by Dane"

Where can one find such a map?

I think it was in this topic. If not I don’t remember which topic it was.

I just called them directly and ended up speaking to a friendly engineer. I worked with her by going to the pole locations and sending her photos, then called her back every month or so to follow up.

From what she told me, there's no wait on the CPUC side for Sonic to put up fiber after the poles are installed, but since PGE owns the poles, Sonic still has to coordinate with them.

Do you happen to have the specific name and/or contact info of the friendly engineer? I tried calling the CPUC but was told that I couldn’t do anything; Sonic would have to work with the CPUC, not me.

There was someone (in this thread or one of the other S.F. threads)that got their pole reinforced by contacting CPUC. Guess it depends on who you reach there.

Hello, is there any chance Sonic fiber will be coming to Oakwood St in San Francisco anytime soon? This is between 18th and 19th St, between Dolores and Guerrero St in the Mission. I've been checking the availability tool for a couple of years now, and looks like a lot of the area around our street has been built out, but we've been skipped over unfortunately. IIRC We do get our utilities from the overhead poles, so the microtrenching issue shouldn't effect our street.

Anything we could do to move this along faster, with the city for eg ? TIA!

Another voice on Oakwood here, I'd love to get Sonic on our street. 18th and 19th both have it. Is there someone at Sonic we can talk to?
