We are working on the cable design in your area. This is where we map out where to place the cable on the telephone poles in your community. Once your neighborhood moves into the construction phase and begins to go live with fiber you will receive more communications from us.

Our goal is to improve the quality of Internet service in America! By expanding our own Gigabit Fiber we are able to provide top tier customer service, the fastest rates achievable in the country and our award winning privacy policy all at an affordable rate. That being said, infrastructure construction is a large feat and it will take some time to expand those services. Hopefully we can complete the build out to your area in the near future.

Hey Jacob, thanks for that update! Would you be able to give a similar update for what stage 10 gig is at for Longfellow in Oakland, specifically 39th & Market st area?

I'm curious if new installs are already getting 10 gig in this area, or really any details you might be able to share would be great. I'm getting my network ready to receive the 10 gig love already :D

It's been really difficult for us to estimate service activation dates with much accuracy, do to issues with permitting and with utility pole safety. But note that everything new we build is all 10Gbps, so that's good news.

Thanks Dane I appreciate the update and all the work you are doing to raise the bar in the industry!

For areas with 1 gigabit already that is directly Sonic (not the ATT one) do you have to replace the pole fiber or is it more just hardware upgrades but you can reuse the existing runs?

I've got the 1 gig from you already and loving it.

A few months ago I saw a sonic truck in the wild a block over and they said they were only installing 1 gig for that household. Are you saying all new installs per house in all areas are now 10 gig?

Thanks again,

Chris

No, the fiber is the same - it’s the equipment in the central office which determines speed availability in a region. New areas are getting new equipment. We’ll have to upgrade in-service areas to the new gear to make 10G available.
